Abstract： The embodiment of the invention provides a drama watching method and device based on augmented reality, and aims to help audiences accurately identify typewriting of drama actors without influencing the audiences to appreciate drama performances. The method is applied to a server of a theater, and comprises the steps: receiving theater stage photos periodically uploaded by a camera over a theaterstage, each theater stage photo being a photo shot when the camera is vertically aligned with the theater stage downwards; detecting actors in the theater stage photo after each theater stage photo isreceived so as to determine the positions of the actors in the theater stage photo; determining a current performance progress and subtitles corresponding to the current performance progress according to the actor position in the theater stage photo; and sending the subtitles corresponding to the current performance progress and a preset number of subtitles after the subtitles to the AR glasses of each audience, so that each AR glasses displays the subtitles received by the AR glasses.
